Hope for humanity

This essay zooms out from the individual to the collective.

What does it mean to live heart-first in a world built on fear and lack?

How do we become each other's hope?

These are the questions I reflect upon in this essay.

I have been thinking throughout life about our humanity, what it means to be here, to share space with other humans and non-human beings, to respect the earth and honour her (yes, I ascribe to the idea that the planet is a maternal being), and how to live harmoniously with all that is life.

Perhaps it is because I am getting older, but my current understanding is that our way of life does not work. Spending hours at jobs that dictate our time, worth, freedom, and value seems absurd. The aspiration for stability feels like a prison that restricts play, creativity, rest, and being. We live in systems that disregard our vitality and ability to create, dream, rest, and enjoy life. Instead, we soothe our overstimulated nervous systems, bodies, minds, and spirit with low-frequency energies that fail to satisfy our need for true substance.

How is it that life on earth has become restrictive, heavy, and tragic instead of a place of beautiful creation, magical manifestation, and insightful learning? How is it that the things that matter most are the ones that are overlooked?

When I look around me and the state of the world, I cannot help but feel something is amiss. So many of us are trapped in systems and beliefs that thrive on our lack of consciousness. The world we live in is designed to be that way. It is a world in which we live in fear and constant states of panic, anxiety, and lack.

The current systems of our humanity alienate us from our inner authority and knowing by distracting us with materiality. They tell us that we are not enough, we lack something, and to be, we need to do, and the harder we work, the more we gain. These narratives, as a result, create noise and confusion within us.

We are constantly bombarded with noise telling us to buy more, change ourselves to look a certain way, work harder to make more money, gain fame, success… There is always something to be done, the newest product can give us more time, more freedom… But is that true? Do we have more time? Do we have more freedom? Or have we become enslaved to the things that supposedly offer us liberty?

Our technological advancements have not diminished nor liberated us from the noise and confusion in and around us; instead, they have amplified it. They have exacerbated our addictions and materialism, constantly distracting and overwhelming us. We inhabit a world that inhibits inner quiet. With our awareness consistently bombarded by stimuli, the likelihood of us listening and following our intuition diminishes considerably.

Our Collective systems mainly function on frequencies of lack, fear, distractions, and negativity.

This cacophonous world disconnects us from our intuition and inner authority, which leads us to consume more as a means of self-soothing and appeasing our hunger for true life-giving essence. Materiality is not a sufficient substitute for our internal yearning for true substance. This is essentially the trap our humanity finds itself in;

How and what do we nourish ourselves to lessen our reliance on materialism as a true substance?

What is becoming clearer to me in answering this question is we are each other’s hope. Our systems only exist when we continue to uphold and maintain them. Our systems of power, governance, and relations… change when we want to change them.

To change and live in a world that offers equality, justice, peace, and sustainable stability, we have to learn to be better to each other. We have to exercise our ability to be kind, compassionate, and patient with one another. It is important to remember that we are not against each other in this life experience.

Wherever we are and whatever our affiliations and quantifiers are, the most important thing to recognize is that we want the same things. One of the most destructive aspects of living in frequencies of lack and fear is that we forget to see each other and assume that we are living isolated experiences.

We forget that our loneliness and isolation are not singular but rather a shared experience that speaks to our need as a collective to experience something other than fear, lack, overwhelm, loneliness…

The vibration of lack and fear tells us that we are separate from one another and that “there is not enough” as well as we, as individuals, “are not enough.” This naturally creates conditions where we see each other as competitors for finite resources. As a result, we become suspicious of each other and go to great lengths to ensure the survival of only those who look, think, act, and behave like us.

Reawakening attributes such as kindness, compassion, and patience allow us to see the world differently. They have a different vibration frequency, permitting us to see each other with our hearts first.

Heart-centred living is how we are each other’s hope.

Heart-centred living prioritises our connection to each other rather than materiality and consumption. It emphasises the flow of energy between us rather than what we can get from one another.

When we focus on energy exchange and being in flow rather than exploiting one another, we foster a different relationship dynamic that prioritises harmony and fulfilling connections. This connection nurtures us at a soul level and shifts our energetic frequency to pulsate at a higher resonance.

The higher our resonance or the more we are in our hearts and allow energy to flow, the more in peace we are with ourselves and each other.

When our goal is to be in flow with one another, it transforms both the intention behind our actions and the energy they carry. It allows us to see each other with dignity, respect, and honour. This is vital to understand because we are incarnated Souls having an experience.

How we interact with each other provides our Souls with information. Our Souls learn and evolve through the energetic exchanges we share. When our intentions and actions are sincere, they uplift and sustain the vibrational frequency of our energetic field and that of the other. The opposite is also true because we are in constant relation with one another.

When our energetic fields are in harmony, with energy flowing smoothly in and out, it communicates a message to our Soul about the exchange. Our Souls record these energetic interactions and their effects on us. Over time, these records shape the life lessons we experience. Our Souls seek to understand and master the dynamics of these energetic exchanges.

When we realize that our interactions are not only human-to-human but also energetic exchanges that shape our Soul’s lessons, our approach to one another naturally shifts.

We begin to consciously treat each other with respect, dignity, and honour, befitting the grandeur of our Souls. As such, the more knowledge we gain, the greater our responsibility to act in ways that nurture life and centre the heart.

Kindness, Patience, and Compassion are ways of being that lead us back to our hearts.

In our everyday lives, we have many opportunities to practice these values. We do not have to be perfect, do it “right,” or always be sincere, but we can make an effort. We can attempt to be the change we wish to see and set examples for each other.

This may seem like a trivial solution to such big problems, but the most important thing is our connection to one another. When our connections are fulfilling and life-giving, what we do, build, and how we act are direct reflections of our inner states and energetic resonance. I hope our humanity reflects the depth and grandeur of our hearts. We are who we are looking for.
