  • Your first session is 120 minutes. We begin with a thorough intake — listening, observing, pulse and tongue reading — so I can understand not just your symptoms, but you. Based on this, I tailor your treatment. Subsequent sessions are 90 minutes, and each one is different because you are different each time you arrive.

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing that is easy to move in. Eat at least an hour before your appointment, not right before.

Recreational substances are not recommended before acupuncture, as they directly alter your pulse, which is essential for creating your treatment plan.

  • No! Acupuncture needles are much smaller than those you are used to at the doctor's office. You might feel a quick passing prick upon insertion, but that's it. Most people comment that they are not even aware of the needles. For those who are more sensitive, we use a breathing technique to help you relax before continuing.ion text goes here

  • Acupuncture is a highly subjective experience. It is common to feel good or fatigued after your first session. It is also normal to feel nothing. This is not a sign that the treatment was ineffective. In such cases, the effect may be noticeable only after additional sessions compound.

I strongly recommend allowing some time after your session to integrate.

  • In most cases, I recommend six consecutive sessions to begin addressing your concerns. Acupuncture works better when treatments are compounded. It takes time for the body to recognise a new normal and to register that change.

Your treatment plan is tailored based on everything gathered during your initial visit.

  • The Deeper Work combines acupuncture with energetic healing, sound, and conversation. While standard acupuncture addresses what's showing up in your body, The Deeper Work goes underneath, into the chronic patterns rooted in trauma, belief systems, and conditioning. This is for women who sense that their physical symptoms are connected to something deeper.

  • No. Some women come directly to The Deeper Work because they know that's what they need. Others start with acupuncture and transition into the deeper sessions as trust builds. There is no wrong entry point.

  • At Somasana, I try to understand you not just physiologically but also emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I am interested in the interplay between matter and energy. Every session is tailored to address not only your immediate concerns, but also you as a whole individual.

I believe that you are your best caretaker and healer: I co-create and hold space with you to encourage healing.

  • The name Somasana is a reflection and fusion of many cultures. From Swahili — my mother tongue — kusoma sana means to read a lot. In Latin, soma is body. In Spanish, sanar is to heal. Somasana embodies body, soul, and spirit. By learning the language of the body, which includes that of the spirit and soul, we can heal holistically.

  • Cosmetic acupuncture helps boost collagen production, improve blood circulation, and improve the skin's elasticity — slowing the ageing process and resulting in a youthful, glowing appearance. We focus on reducing fine lines, healing acne and acne scars, and more. Consecutive and consistent sessions are highly recommended. During your initial consultation, I will advise on the number of sessions required for your presentation.

  • Harmonizing Sound uses Crystal Singing Bowls tuned to 432Hz to help your nervous system relax — shifting your body from a fight-or-flight response to a rest-and-digest state. At Somasana, sessions are longer than typical sound baths. We begin with gentle movement to encourage stillness, then settle into the sound journey using Crystal Singing Bowls, voice, flute, and percussion. Currently available for private group sessions only.

  • Cupping uses glass or silicone cups placed on the skin to pull stagnant blood and cellular waste to the surface. It promotes muscle relaxation, improves circulation, and enhances mobility. The marks left by cupping are not bruises! They fade within three days to two weeks. Keep the areas covered and warm for three days after treatment, avoid direct sun, and drink plenty of water. Avoid strenuous physical activity for the first 24 hours.

  • Moxibustion uses the Mugwort leaf (Artemisia Vulgaris) placed directly or indirectly on the skin at acupuncture points. It brings relief to sore joints, menstrual cramps, indigestion, and more. It is also used for fertility support, immune strengthening, and chronic pain. Moxibustion is often used alongside acupuncture.

  • Chinese herbal medicine supports your acupuncture treatment and is used for both acute and chronic conditions. All herbal formulas are tailored to your concerns and adjusted as your condition changes. If herbal therapy is recommended as part of your care, the details and cost will be discussed with you.
